A joke maybe, but like the Ducks an excellent family bargain and great national PR for Long Island...gone. They drew 5000+ to Hofstra's stadium most games. In fairness this is not really the fault of LI pols this time but the NASL being a mess and Hofstra wanting the team out. Still, a continuation of the disturbing (at least to me) trend of iconic businesses and pro sports leaving for greener pastures...or any business leaving...taking jobs and tax base with it.
I guess if you love soccer and went to the games this is bothersome. For me it doesn't matter, but if the LI Ducks ever moved off LI I would be devastated.
So it's good we lose the taxes from a $1m plus revenue per game plus the feeder jobs? How do you figure? I don't go to the Ducks often but I don't want to see them go and it would certainly "matter" whether you like baseball or not. It's the kind of thing that makes a community worth living in and contributing to...that overtaxed families can actually afford to go to. I'm amazed at how shortsighted people are when it's their own interests at stake...cause they don't "love soccer." Who does love soccer? 5000+ in Nassau with cash to spend right here on Long Island. Not anymore. That "matters."

I get what you are saying. And it was the same deal when there was a chance to keep the Isles here but most voted no to keep their taxes from going up 20 bucks a year. Plenty of "why should I care I don't watch hockey" there too.
League is up and running with six teams. Whether it's 3k, 5k, 1k or the league is in trouble (mostly mismanagement by 2 or 3 owners), what difference does it make? All proceeds to Kings County, zero proceeds to Nassau County. No one noticed the team, maybe they'll notice their taxes going up to offset the tax revenue loss. Again, so shortsighted. Besides, your loss if you never went. Lots of fun, especially for the kiddos.

How do you figure $1m revenue per game with 3,000 attendance? Are tickets $333 each?
