Even the good areas are seeing trouble more & more now. And neighboring communities are going to start getting much worse as time goes on apparently.

North Bellmore has seen at least 6 crimes I know of in the last week alone. Many are unreported as well & all know that. But I know a few of them were in the news this week. The others I only know of because they happened to people we know. In all 4 of the others. It was Hispanics that committed the crimes in NB as was evident by surveillance cameras. None have been caught yet. Except for that one guy that had area locked down the other day for hours as they chased a guy all over Wantagh & NB. Lots of people we know were told to stay indoors as man was on the loose with gun. He was on a friends roof at one point too. Jumping over fences into yards. They finally caught him. He was being chased by cops & ditched van he stole after robbing home at gunpoint and ran on foot.

It's very sad. Just proves no area is immune to problems.

I dont understand. Police out here is is handsomely paid. Why cant they take care of the gangs once and for all. There are not dealing with a maze of buildings like Manhattan or Bronx.

Are they afraid? Not enough police?

For one, the federal government basically handcuffs them. They make the arrests, and the Fed keeps them here. Sanctuary cities are so great! Next, the police are understaffed and don't even have enough time to handle day-to-day calls, never mind focus specifically on gang issues.

Sorry if this is a really dumb question or if it has been addressed already - but what was the relationship between the gang and the kids that were murdered? were the kids actually in the gang? or did the kids randomly have a "spat" with gang members? or was it one of those things where random innocent people are killed at the hands of gang members?

The title of this post made me think of Salvadorans in boat shoes and polo's with the collar popped.
