Agree! That's what we are afraid of. Better half & I keep arguing. Do we go give SC & try again or go back to Fla. He is pushing for Buffalo YIKES me! But COL is so much lower there & do have a few "investment" property opportunities there. As well as family. Becoming a very difficult decision. Wanted out of NY completely. Buffalo only gets us off LI. My guess is while housing is much cheaper (job not a concern for me) life with cold & snow will not be much better there. At least the heat will be less to a certain degree. We have an older family member that relocated up there last year & while she is a bit lonely she loves it as she does prefer to be alone anyway. And she has an older car but hardly drives. Claims public transit is just easier & cheaper for her being retired.

And meets lots of people with stuff in common with her at community center there. They do weekly dinners out. And they serve breakfast & lunch daily. She is not an old retiree either. Just took early disability retirement from regular job in retail.

Job & income concern is for him. Just not too bad. All in luck & connection. And cheaper housing even in decent neighborhoods is inviting. He & his family say we should give it 3 yrs. Who knows we might last forever or just 1 year. Of god forbid less. Long range for now is somewhere in Fla. But we all know things can change in life.

But we are trying to set things up before hand to make that problem less of a concern.

5X the normal salary? Wow

The problem with the ferry is it doesn't really help any if you live on the South Shore. I'm not driving to Glen Cove to get a ferry. Might as well just drive to NYC @ that point.

I'm not opposed to a ferry but they should make them @ more convenient points.

Two boats ferrying 374 people for the entire day? I bet the ferry companies will be compensated handsomely for this.

I would like to see somewhere how much the MTA is spending on salaries, health care and pension.
