If Martins loses he'll just run for another office. He seems like a politician who just wants to be elected to something. He didn't win a seat in Congress so now he's going for County Executive.
Yeah that was pretty much my feeling too. And he'd be in way over his head - the real County leadership would fall to his bosses - Mondello, Santino ect - he'd just be the pretty boy smiling at the photo ops.
Don't know anything about Curran except that she became Jay Jacobs favorited politician and suddenly he started running her for everything and she just popped up out of nowhere.
Martins has been recycled many times - usually when the GOP has nobody else to run and feels pretty certain they'll be losing the office anyway. I just know several people who tried contacting Martins office when he was whatever he was last time - and found it to be completely dysfunctional, rude and nonresponsive. Basically of no help whatsoever and not even interested in pretending they cared.
I've no idea what Curran was like - before the CE race anyhow.
Interested in hearing if anyone had actually experiences with these people - making and keeping past promises and actually exhibiting interests in serving the public good.
Getting to the point where I don't know if voting matters either anymore - because really - look at the choices.

We did have personal contact and experiences with him. We found him to be very approachable, very concerned and interested in what people had to say, smart, got the sense he genuinely wanted to make positive changes, made time for people, very courteous, hard working. In response to your comment about his unresponsive office, that certainly was not what he was about in our dealings with him. If he knew of this person's experience, I am sure he would have corrected the situation and would not have been happy the way it was handled. I don't get the impression he is trying to win any election just to win as someone posted. Having personal experiences with him, I truly feel he wants to serve his constituents the best way he can. The beginning of his political career, he was the mayor of the Village of Mineola prior to being State Senator. I read up on his accomplishments and voting record. I think he would work very hard to make positive changes for Nassau County. I think if his name was out there more during his congressional run against Suozzi (part of that district is in northeastern Queens and Suozzi was more well known), I think his run would have been more successful. Suozzi did not win by a wide margin.
Another blow to the GOP. Even the ToH got rid of those corrupt bums. Things are looking up in Nassau county!
