I am getting estimates for roof cleaning and one method is soft wash, cleaning with low pressure water and chemicals. Second way is just chemicals, no water and the chemicals will kill lichen and whatever is growing up there. This will cause growing stuff to change color and it could take a few months for the roof to look clean. Has anyone used either method? Which way is better as the soft wash will cost me less but I want to get the best outcome and not void my roof warranty.

I did the soft wash method. Basically 1/3 bleach 2/3rd water. Looked great after a month when all the moss died.

Pro tip: do not let that bleach water go down your spouts and into your shrubs. They will kill them. Add extenders on gutters.

Is your roof have over hanging tree limbs? If so, Trim back those trees, will prevent growth.

Never power wash your roof, good chance you will blow off too many granules.

15-20% Bleach will work over time.
