I went to Nissequogue river last time with my 8 yo son, and there was no resting areas for short break. Other than that, it was great though
Any advice/info would be appreciated!

if you put the kayak in the water at the park on Jericho Tpke (NY25) in Smithtown (south side, just east of the bull) and paddle north, you can stop at the park just past the Landing Ave. bridge (on the right). There is also an inlet by Niss. River State park on the left where you can stop at the beach (just before Niss River enters the LI Sound).
Have fun.
