Lynbrook and Hewlett-Woodmere are both excellent school districts, as well as nice communities in which to raise a family. As said on other posts, double-check listings to make sure that you are in either District 20 (Lynbrook) or District 14 (Hewlett-Woodmere). This is especially true with regard to the latter- parts of Woodmere are zoned for the Lawrence School District, which you should avoid at all costs, unless you want to send your children to private school - the community has become very heavily Orthodox Jewish (a modern-day shtetl, or ghetto, if you will), and a sizeable majority of children in the district attend yeshiva - the public schools there are significantly below average, especially when compared to neighboring districts.

VS is the most diverse
Franklin Square is rapidly becoming more diverse
I am not too familiar with Lynbrook
Floral Park IMHO is probably the best of the bunch especially in terms of a feeling of belonging to a community
But all are decent areas. I dont think you can go wrong with any of them. Just depends what your price point is and what services you want. Floral Park and Lynbrook have their own Police Departments.
Lynbrook has its own school district. Valley Stream has different zones for elementary school but has a centralized high school district. Floral Park and Franklin Square have their own elementary schools but high schools belong to the Sewanhaka Central District.

Floral Park is definitely our fav, our budget is $800K so we can afford a few homes there. We go eat at Sempre Fame every so often and the owner John is always very welcoming. The customers are always friendly. Everyone pretty much takes care of their homes.

If you can afford it, I would chose floral park. As a former Franklin
square resident (north), it is rapidly declining. Floral Park also has much more of a sense of community.

I would look further east if you can, all the neighborhoods you’re mentioning are rapidly becoming Queens.

Garden city south, really anything north of the turnpike. As others and myself have stated, it's in rapid decline. If you are insistent upon that area, I'd chose floral park. If you're open to other areas, I'd go further east. If you have a budget of $800k, I'd look at Rockville Centre. The problem with the FS/FP area, is there is not much difference from queens, in many ways. This is coming from someone who moved there from Astoria, almost 10 years ago.

My wife works in Ridgewood so we're trying to stay as close as possible to Queens.

I'd look at garden city then too. Tight, but doable. Leaps and bounds above Floral Park, and same sense of community.
