Valley Stream is more mixed, schools not in same league as Herricks. I heard the Gibson section is the best section but I dont live there.

What exactly are you looking for price and demographics wise?
We're open to areas from Queens to LI. The main thing is moving to an area thats safe, ppl take care of their homes, and some diversity. We're looking from 600-900K. My wife is preggo with our first kid so if we stay on the lower end of the budget, we can move again to a better school district in 3-4 years. If we move to the Herricks school district at the higher range of our budget, we'd be planning on staying a lot longer.

What type of diversity? Asian? Hispanic? African American?
True diversity among all types of people is probably Valley Stream. Schools are average
African American Lakeview with Malverne schools
Asian New Hyde Park and Herricks better schools.

All are near Queens

I think the best place is Williston Park in Herricks school.district. Not as diverse as you might be looking for, but a solid area. A little further east from Queens.

There's a really nice one in Williston Park; at the limit of the price range but could potentially be a "forever" home.
