Does anyone know the process for requesting a limited-time or no parking on the street in front of my residence? We live near the LIRR and the rest of my street except for the house to right and 2 houses to my left have a 2 hour limited parking. So all those houses which requested no parking in front of their houses are always fighting to get to the space in front of my house. If that wasn't bad enough some leave trash by the streets, leave the radio blaring or nearly block my drive way access....I am patient, but there are limits. Thanks for any info!
Are you telling me that there's a sign for each and every house that has requested it? I find that ridiculous. Ask your town to change the wording on the existing sign(s) to "no parking from here to corner" or something similar. Or, when someone comes and parks in front of your house, call the cops and get the existing signs enforced, because chances are the signs apply to the whole street.
Thanks for answering twingles. lol, no there is not a sign for each and every house that has requested a sign.
The sign has an arrow and starts at the end of one block and and a 2nd sign with the opposite pointing arrow is one house over mine. This means there are 4 houses to the end of the block not covered by a "no parking" sign, I am the 3rd house from the end of the block in this group of houses. So you have a configuration as such: "no parking sign", house, my house, house, house, end of block.
Not sure if what I wrote makes sense but I can't think of another way to describe this.

But with half the block battling for the spot in front of my house I doubt I would get a chance to park there myself unless there was a sudden mass exodus....which would mean I would have a bigger problem on my hands.
Ah. So that explains the 2 hour parking limit in front of my house. Nice to know and I'm glad we have it.
We got a bunch of regular liir travelers here and there, but overall it's not bad.

You think your neighbors requested no parking in front of their homes so they could park in front of your home? I doubt that. I've never heard of a town or municipality acting on requests from individual homeowners to restrict parking in front of their specific homes. The limited-time parking is not uncommon near the LIRR to stop commuter parking in front of homes but it's not done on a home by home basis. Also if you are near a commercial area the time limits may be there because they don't want employees/customers parking in front of homes all day. The no parking signs may be there for another reason such as traffic safety.
What town is this? How long have you lived there? Did someone actually tell you they requested limited-time or no parking in front of their own homes? Your neighbors who park by your home sit in their cars and blare the radio? Very odd.
