Maybe the winter will be mild. I heard some long range forecasts that suggested it might be. I haven’t used heat so far this fall. I don’t use heat as long as my home is in the 60s and I actually prefer cooler indoor temps. The weather forecast is temps in the 60s all week.
One problem I have is that my hot water runs off the oil burner, I thought about getting an electric heater installed, but that requires a large real estate in already cramped boiler area, would need to get creative which will increase the costs too. Also I suppose having the boiler constantly run 4 seasons keeps it in good shape vs turning it off for 6-7 months and then running it occasionally in winter?

Yes. Keeping the boiler going all year is good. Keeps the seals and such in good shape.
What I did in one of my homes was to add a hot water heater that only fed the showers/tub.
Which is the majority of hot water usage.
However, I did all the work myself. I ran the electric and did all the plumbing.
I had most of the materials laying around already. Biggest cost was the heater itself which was a few hundred bucks.
