Anyone get an oil delivery recently? If so what was the price and was there any issue in getting it with the supposed shortage?

Always check COD fuel for the cheapest prices.

Anywhere from $5 to $6 a gallon. The shortage is bs, just a way to rape us.

How do you propose people do that? They are limited to the size of their tanks.

One problem I have is that my hot water runs off the oil burner, I thought about getting an electric heater installed, but that requires a large real estate in already cramped boiler area, would need to get creative which will increase the costs too. Also I suppose having the boiler constantly run 4 seasons keeps it in good shape vs turning it off for 6-7 months and then running it occasionally in winter?

Yes. Keeping the boiler going all year is good. Keeps the seals and such in good shape.
What I did in one of my homes was to add a hot water heater that only fed the showers/tub.
Which is the majority of hot water usage.
However, I did all the work myself. I ran the electric and did all the plumbing.
I had most of the materials laying around already. Biggest cost was the heater itself which was a few hundred bucks.
