I am taking my Niece and Nephew (ages 5 and 7) along with some of my family to experience thier 1st Autumn away from Miami (a city with no real change of seasons). Which are the best country farms on Long Island. You know, Hayrides, Hot Apple Cider, Pumpkin Patches, etc. I heard Fink's Country Farm is one of the best.

Enjoyed Harbes with my family this year. They have the usual hay rides and pumpkin picking along with live music and games. They also have food and serve their own wine or a local pumpkin beer.

Harbes is the typical answer, but depending on where you are, that's a looooong drive and the traffic getting in and out of the place can be insane.

We went to Schmitt's Family Farm in Dix Hills. It was pretty fun. They have a large playground area for kids that my toddler loved. Hay rides around the place are free, lots of pumpkins everywhere. They also have a corn maze, but be warned that it is serious. I spent 20 minutes wandering around and hadn't even gotten away from the entrance.

Harbes sucks. Fink's is is actual working farm and I'd recommend it for a kid's day. Windy Acre farm is great too. Both places you avoid the north fork traffic and get a better experience and are supporting working farms.

You can also check out Stakey's Pumpkin Farm. I went last week and it seemed like a nice family friendly place. Picked the pumpkins right off the vine.

Please stay away from Harbes this year and every year. Why in the world would people sit in an hour of traffic to pick a *$#&@$ pumpkin? That place has single-handedly ruined the north fork.

I'm bummed. I sat in my pumpkin patch this year and The Great Pumpkin never came.

I just go to the local Stop & Shop to get pumpkins. I don't have kids and I can't be bothered with the drive out east lol
