FINALLY that structure will be gone. Mostly vacant for 12(?) years. Unreal. I still remember being inside that KMart once.
But why are they doing a Home Depot when they have another right down the road? I heard (probably here) they were sitting on the property so Lowes couldn't have it, but to go ahead with another HD???
My thought exactly! That site really could have been used for many better things. Now it will just attract those day laborers like all the other ones do. Feel bad for people that live right there.
I have been in my share of HD's and the East Meadow store is the worst. I would guess and that is all it is, that the EM location would close once the former Kmart is opened.
I enjoy my elected officials in hardhats patting themselves on the back in a photo op, celebrating...that it only took 20 years for them to get their thumbs out of their ahems and force HD's hand to do something. Apparently the rat infestation helped grease the wheels.
Looking forward to giving Home Depot half my paycheck in the near future.

Out this way there's one in South Setauket (aka Centereach), one in Selden on Middle Country Rd and another in Coram on Middle Country Rd. The first two are 4.5 miles apart while the second two are 3.3 miles apart. I doubt HD will close the East Meadow location when Levittown opens.

I should have added that I know of someone who works in EM and she said the store is falling apart and they rarely put even a dime into it. That has colored my thinking.
