We closed on a house about 40 days ago and I still see it listed as "In contract/pending" on multiple listing services i.e. zillow, trulia, redfin, realtor, coldwellbankerhomes, danielgale and other RL companies

I asked the broker to update the home as sold but he has not. His communication was poor throughout the deal.

Is there anything else I can do to escalate this? I want the pictures removed from all the websites and have an actual "sold date".
I have a family lawyer who is willing to represent me for free.

call the real estate office or better yet go into it and ask to speak to the broker-in-charge. Tell them what you want done.

As twingles said, the best thing is to talk to the broker (not the agent). You can also call Long Island Board of Realtors at 631-661-4800. They have a rule regarding this and will fine the broker if they do not correct it.

This happened with our house - almost a year after we closed I noticed some websites still had interior pics up even after the house was showing as sold.

I wound up individually emailing all of the offending sites I found. Most of them took them down within a couple hours. A couple of the bigger ones like Realtor.com took a couple days, but they all seem to be removed now.
