Plainedge graduate.

All schools on LI have a drug 'problem'; Plainedge had one highly publicized student death which occurred at a party. A young, white suburban girl overdosed on heroin before the Long Island heroin problem garnered significant public attention and outcry. She became the face of the new age of heroin addicts.

I have friends in the area whose children will attend, currently attend, or recently graduated -- they could give you much better insight. If you're on FB, there are a few Plainedge groups to ask.

I don't think there are high schools anywhere with a drug problem, just a question of which is the hard drug of choice, heroin or meth.

Heroin / fentanyl seem to be the drugs we are hearing the young people overdosing on.

Are mid-30's considered a young person? LOL. I always wonder if I still fit the "young people" bill now

I concur, every high school has a "drug problem". For what it's worth, Plainedge is a fairly tight community, which may help combat the drug problem better than a large district.
