Why Valley Stream? ('Cuz is it the best in NYS? Absolutely not. It's fine but nowhere near the "the best").
I just got curious about Valley Stream because of the Money article. Feeling disillusioned about these lists though. Someone I know who works for the parent company said that article is paid advertising and each of their picks paid to be named #1 place to live in their entire state. Nobody fact checks these lists and there are so many lists being published they fly under the radar. Looks like the list is "for entertainment purposes only."

I hate these lists and I never take them at face value. There was another list that said Baldwin is the best place to live in the state. Nothing wrong with Baldwin in my opinion, but many would disagree and also the schools aren't great - but it's diverse.
I think any of the towns mentioned on this thread you would happy in. It also depends on your budget - some may be out of reach. VS is pretty big and some areas are better than others. I don't care much for the area around Green Acres. It's otherwise fine, just congested.
Lists, polls, and "studies" are all skewed and agenda driven.
Internet moving forums also leave room to be desired.
Best way is up close and personal.
Gather preliminary info and get going where you need to get.

Definitely! The internet is a great resource for doing research and even finding places you never knew about.
I'm also thinking about how the $10,000 Federal tax cap on SALT deductions is going to go over in 2019 when people are actually doing their 2018 income taxes. Right now people aren't seeing the full effect like seeing the numbers in black and white on their tax returns.
I wonder how much the salability and market value of homes will be negatively affected on LI and other high tax areas.
Wont change anything.
Think of all the other ridiculous increases in everything all the time and people still pay.
They will complain, but will just cower and pay.
So my expert prediction is no change and more complaining.
