According to an article I read several local Toys R Us and Babies R us that are slated to close this year will begin their closing sale starting tomorrow, Wednesday Feb 8. Here is the list of NY stores. For the most part the closures are Babies R us on LI, as I don't see one Toys R us stand alone on the list for LI.

New York (14)
Middle Village (Combination store)
Westbury (Babies "R" Us)
College Point (Babies "R" Us)
New York City (Babies "R" Us)
Sayville (Babies "R" Us)
Massapequa (Babies "R" Us)
Kingston (Toys "R" Us)
Glens Falls (Toys "R" Us)
Latham (Babies "R" Us)
Greece (Toys "R" Us)
Henrietta (Babies "R" Us)
Amherst (Babies "R" Us)
Commack (Combination store)
Yonkers (Babies "R" Us)

This really sucks. The one in Westbury and Commack are nice, clean stores and the staff there are pretty helpful. They have a great selection of toys and baby needs. Whereas the $hithole store in Valley Stream is a dump. Even though the VS store is closer to me the one in Westbury is a better experience. I tend to drive there when I need to get something. And the Commack one is very nice. Why can't these businesses get their $hit together? I buy stuff from them all the time.

Couldn't care less about Babies R Us.
Toys R Us goes under and I will riot. Or not.

They lost me as a customer when they wouldn't even match their online price (this changed). TrU always marked up their prices and sent out a 10 or 20% coupon to make it seem like you're getting a great savings. We knew this but always went for the selection. Eventually, we gave up on their pricing games and just bought at Target, and with that, our baby supplies too. Too bad for them.

I know I am the resident valley stream booster here but I honestly have not found the Toys r Us at GAM bad at all or dumpy.

Now, Walmart. Never stepping foot in there again.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you regarding that Walmart in GAM. Absolutely overcrowded disaster. It's like going into a bazaar in a third world country. By far the worst Walmart I've ever stepped foot in. And I've been to hundreds throughout the country.
But that Toys R Us, if you are comparing it to the one in Commack then it is a dump.

Many fond memories of the VS Toys R Us.
I was a Playworld RVC kid until that store went to *bleep*.
Took my kids to VS store once like 20 years ago. Once.

I am impressed that Matty's is hanging on in RVC and in the Penn-Mill shopping center. We go there sometimes. VS Toys r Us is also a Babies r Us and it's helped me in a pinch with the little one at odd hours. Never had an issue. That covered parking lot in the back is creepy, but the store itself is orderly and efficient.

The last time I went to the Commack one has got to have been 20 years ago at least, when I was a kid.
