There are two different pothole repairs a cold pack and a hot pack. They will do a temporary one with a cold pack in the winter and then follow with a hot pack.

Well after hitting a huge pothole at night on the LIE westbound the other day, my left front has developed a sidewall bubble. I'll be putting in a claim for this $250 tire (may have to replace both due to tread depth mismatch and the AWD system).
Just found this nugget:
If your vehicle was damaged on a state road after Nov. 15 and before May 1, when pothole damage is most likely to happen, you probably won't get any money back - New York State law specifically excludes that period from liability
Maintenance? Do you mean the whole stretch
of the LIE a work zone? Also w/ more double your
ticket for speeding compared to the amount of workers
out there?
Last year wasn't too bad but this year it seems
like to roads are turning upwards. The one time
I went on Nichols exit from lie they tarred a freakish
pattern freshly all over and when it was wet alot of people
were sliding. I recall I had new tires at the time also.
Cripes, even the HOV has a few going on.
Nice weather is coming, glad I dont ride a motorcycle
to change lanes. The white lines hide the 3"+ trenches.
This. How about the state DOT invest in a multi-lane paving machine? It seems the worst of the potholes occur where the lane seams meet which makes sense since that is where water is likely intruding. Why not do the job right instead of creating a job security death trap?

Maybe if the highway guys actually stayed on top of maintenance the roads wouldn't become so unraveled so fast.
