Does the free canoe only go one way to CT? Or can it go back to LI after you take it to CT?

I didn't take a civil service test believe it or not. It helps having friends in high places.

the free canoe must be paddled in New York for four years, else the cost must be refunded to the state.

I heard it was being built through part of the Ready-Cut factory's property, is this accurate?

It would seem like the path of least resistance (although fans of Sunkin Meddow Beech might not think so). No houses, neighborhoods, businesses to displace, at least on the L.I. side.

I would sincerely hope the powers that be would widen the Sagatose to three or more lanes per side if the crossing ever gets built...

I don't think the tunnel from Syosset to Rye would displace houses, neighborhoods, or businesses (on the Long Island side at least). (Unlike the 30-year old plan of continuing 135 up though North Syosset, Oyster Bay, and Bayville and then a bridge - the current idea is a tunnel starting where 135 currently ends).

Even if approved it probably wouldn't be open for traffic until 2040, when a lot of us will be gone.

I'll still be here and that is my retirement year ... bring it! Float me across on a raft with a margarita!
