Just like LI state and Peconic County, it wont happen.
In this particular case the Nimby Army will be out in full force.
I am not in disagreement with any of this. The reality is that this is a good proposal, and the sad reality is that you are correct with the above. All of which is exactly what is wrong with LI, which in essence, is my point.

It will never happen. There's far too much money and power on the north shore and in Westchester. If they do what needs to be done, which is fix what we've got, it'll be long after I'm dead and gone. Get the hell off that Island, it's doomed.

What business or industry on LI would attract commuters willing to pay a $20+ toll each day plus the traffic?

People are already doing this in the metro area...it's not a foreign concept....not much on LI, but it's another option for LIer's to go where the $ is.

The investment of billions of dollars to build a crossing most don't want doesn't make much sense for a handful that want to live on LI and work in Connecticut. Keep dreaming just because Robert Moses envisioned it doesn't mean others shared his dream.

If they stuck this thing on the north shore of Nassau it would be a wash.
The traffic horror show would be the same and you'd still be stuck trying to get to, and go through the tunnel or bridge or whatever the hell they build.
You know it. Everyone and their brother will want to take this "shortcut" and in no time flat it will be a poop sandwhich. The novelty would last just long enough to hand Andy another term.

But then the other ways in/out would open up.

Again - this mindset is why LI fails. I'm not dreaming - I couldn't give a flying f. Your sentiment is a big part of what drives me outta here.

Part of many reasons LI fails.
I'm writing a book. It's sure to be a best seller.
