I’ve gotten 2 quotes from insurance brokers for homeowners insurance. The companies they have come up with are Kingstone and Andover. Right now I have travelers but unfortunately, travelers has stopped writing imsurance policies in the area I’m moving too. If anyone has any information on these two companies, I’d love to hear it. Andover has a 2% deductible for hurricane insurance where Kingstone has 5% so Andover seems more appealing but being I’ve never heard of the 2 companies, I’m interested in hearing reviews from people who have these carriers for their homeowner insurance. Thanks in advance.

Andovers seemed good for me when I purchased a home last August.

Unfortunately they sent out an inspector to assess my home and determined that my value was higher than originally thought and needed to raise my rates 3 months in. I pushed back, and they sent another inspector, who then determined my house value is even HIGHER and needed to raise my rates again. When I called to inquire, they said my home was higher than they cover in the area and would not be renewing me come this August.

I felt like Andovers completely handled my situation wrong. I've heard great things about them, but certainly not for me.

My agent has since redirected me to UPC Insurance. Originally based out of Florida and new to the NY area. So far so good.

I've had Kingstone for 2 of my homes. No problems.
The last home was hit by Sandy and the claim was addressed promptly without issue.

Thank you. Right now I’m leaning more towards Andover bc the rate is a lot less for more coverage and their 2% hurricane/wind deductible.

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of Kingstone until recently. I always had travelers or liberty mutual. Andover seems to be offering me more coverage for less money. I’m leaning more towards them for that reason. Glad to hear Kingstone promptly paid out for your damage from sandy. That’s great to hear.

Check your Kingstone quote again but I believe Kingstone covers the sewer line from the house to the street. Not many insurance company covers that.

Kingston also gives me flood coverage.
It has limitations but whatever. It's included.
