This is something that's interesting to me because here in Nassau County we have immigrants from many Latin American countries (El Salvador, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, etc.), but seemingly very few from Mexico, the largest source of immigration to the US. My whole life I've only met a handful of Mexican people on Long Island, and most of them were only 1/2 or 1/4 Mexican. I'm less familiar with Suffolk County, but it seems like the same thing over there.

Then again, I saw a bunch of people with Mexican soccer jerseys headed to somewhere in Suffolk County at Penn Station one time.

There’s more in Suffolk, since Suffolk has a lot of sanctuary cities.

I mostly know el Salvadorans though, there’s a lot of Mexican and el Salvadorans in Brentwood area.
Brentwood is a sanctuary city, I think river head is also.

Brentwood is a hamlet and doesn't have its own government, so it can't really be a "sanctuary city".

And your point doesn't really make sense because a lot of Central Americans are illegal immigrants and they're found throughout Long Island.

There isn’t a big Mexican community on LI, farmingville is the only town that comes to mind. Even NYC Dosent have a large Mexican population compared to other cities. Here it’s by far Central American populations.

I just call them all Mexicans, so from my point of view there are lots of them around.

On the East End, I’ve met a lot of people from Mexico...Riverhead, in particular.

Would you be okay if someone referred to all white people as Italians?

I've never met a Mexican and have lived in both counties of LI.

Most Hispanics that I've come across were Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Salvadoreans and Columbians. Met a few Hondurans, Peruvians, Belizans and Cubans too (but less than the above nationalities).

Mexicans tend to dislike African Americans with a passion (as seen in LA) so if there was a large influx of them then I could easily see blatino places like Hempstead, Uniondale, New Cassel and Central Islip really explode.
