Billy Joel puts Centre Island home on market -- New York City, Newsday -- Newsday.com (broken link)

For those who may not be familiar with Centre Island:

Centre Island is a village (incorporated in 1926) in the north most part of the Town of Oyster Bay, in the northeast part of Nassau County.

Beginning on its northern border and proceeding clockwise, the Village of Centre Island in the Town of Oyster Bay is on a peninsula, bordered on the north by Long Island Sound; on the east by Long Island Sound and Oyster Bay Harbor; on the south by Oyster Bay Harbor and the Oyster Bay; and, on the west by the Oyster Bay and the Village of Bayville.

Centre Island is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the village name in their mailing address: places in the Village of Centre Island have an "Oyster Bay, NY 11771" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): //www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

He sold his last place in East Hampton to Jerry Sienfeld who knocked the whole thing down and put up a big ugly POS and terrorized 5 or 6 neighbors for 2 years in the process.

I wonder where "Dollar Bill" and his constant free wheeling DWIing is going to be welcome now if the old McEnrow estate (next to the Dolans Horse ranch) isnt cutting it ?

Not enough Corona, Red Stripe beer and illegel imported "domestic help" at the Dolan property?

That jackass almost killed me on Bayville road 2 summers ago ......driving some nasty ugly little car

I'm amazed at how "normal" Bayville is considering what is West, South, and East of it. CI is a nice area...all the houses over here being sold over the last couple years have been huge money. Even the $1.4M median listed on this site seems very low.

Yep, I always thought the same thing. Big bang for your buck up there.

I kinda feel the same way about Kings Park with Fort Salonga, Nisseqougue and Smithtown bodering it. I guess the hospital had something to do with that.

The difference between Bayville and its neighbors is 10 fold greater than Kings Park neighbors. Mill Neck, CI, Lattingtown & Oyster Bay Cove is crazy money. Lotto would not help!

I agree...the hospital did help that for KP, but that'll change over time I'm sure. And yes, those areas near Bayville are nutty...$50k/yr in taxes are not uncommon...woo hoo.
