Is South Huntington Safe?
Got a new job in Melville, looking for a 2 family house to live in and rent out the other.
South Huntington seems affordable.
Just want to make sure it is safe and how is the school?
the area that I'm looking is by the Walt Whitman Shops. Todd st area.

It's nice for the most part. Because of mall traffic Black Friday thru New Years Day can suck big time on Rte 11 and even NY Ave which is where I believe Todd is but who knows how long malls will be around. Schools are fine.

Todd Ct runs parallel to NY Ave to the East - don't believe there is any traffic increase during "Sale days".

Believe it...

Traffic is ridiculous in the area on a 'normal' day. Between the mall and Target around the corner on Jericho it's like 'Thunderdome' during the holiday shopping season...

I lived in the area my whole life, and specifically a few blocks from Todd Ct in 'South Huntington' (which is really technically Huntington Station) from 2006 until a few years ago.

I had a job as a local delivery driver growing up – would hate to be doing it now. Almost makes me glad I’m in Manhattan all day so I don’t have to deal with driving around here… Almost…

But outside of the traffic and the alleged big 'sizzurp' problems in the schools mentioned previously, it's generally a nice area!
