While doing my research I see that Syosset has 7 elementary school, 2 middle schools, and 1 high school. We don't need to worry about the high school. How are the different elementary and middle schools? I know syosset has a very good reputation for their school district. Are there any particular schools to stay away from? Do you know anything about H.B. Thompson Middle and Willits elementary school? The cape we are looking at would go to these schools.

Any info would be extremely helpful.

I went to South Woods but then I went to HBT. HBT the kids are nicer and the teachers are better. It's a great school.

Syosset has a top rated school district. It is ranked in the top 100 schools in the country! All of the elementary schools are good. There are so many elementary schools because syosset is a large town and also the schools cover the town of woodbury as well. You have nothing to worry about in regards to the schools in moving to syosset.

I know this is an old post.
However, all of them are good from what I've heard.
This January, my future wife and I are moving into a house with Whitman/Thompson schools- so in a few years- I can probably give more insider information.

You can check out the schools at greatschools.net . All 7 elementary schools have a ranking of 10 ( out of 10) and close to 100% pass scores. greatschools also has information on demographics of the students, and it looks like South grove elementary has a 38% asian population, and the demographics is generally 75% white, 25% asian.

Syosset is a great school dstrict, but was not rated in the top 100 in the country. Only 4 schools from Long Island was rated in the top 100 by US news and Newsweek, and Syosset was just outside 100 for both rankings. Not that it matters, but just to be factually right.

The Newsweek ranking pits limited enrollment specialty schools against open enrollment schools. Their methodology bites.
