Husband wants to buy a home security system. I was wondering if anyone has/or had either the Ring or SimpliSafe. Is one considered "better" than the other?
Outdoor camera hook-up option is essential.
Pit bull.
Rottweiler.
German Shepherd.
Doberman pincher.
Or at least 4 pocket dogs. Like poodles or yorkies or whatever.
Only truly effective with a fleet of them. The barking alone would drive a would be perp insane.

But if they're allergic to dogs, or don't feel like feeding them...
None of the above. Buy a real alarm (Honeywell etc.) and DIY, it’s reslly easy and you get a much more robust, pro-quality system that is much more upgradeable and configurable. I installed a Honeywell Lyric system myself and it wasn’t hard at all; almost completely wireless.

TIA
Both are good and super easy to set up. I personally prefer nest stuff but it’s more expensive.

If you don't mind me asking, who does the monitoring? Are alarm companies generally open to supporting equipment that they didn't install themselves?

Alarmrelay.com does central station monitoring for ~$10/mo. and they took over our Honeywell system that was pro-installed. Call ahead for compatibility (and plans). They are based in CA but haven't had an issue with that.
