So, I'm still getting Newsday (terminated my subscription for right after the mid-terms) and surprise, surprise their endorsements:
  1. Kirsten Gillibrand for US Senate. Now let me ask Newsday: what has KG done for New York State or better, for Long Island? Absolutely NOTHING. As much as I don't like Chuck Schumer, as least he's involved in local politics. What a disgrace.
  2. Local New York State Endorsement: I haven't found a single endorsement where a republican was endorsed over a democratic incumbent. Not one. There are several endorsements of democats over republican incumbents. How can a 'Long Island' Newsday think that a fully Democratic New York State Senate is actually good for LI? Mind you, talks about re-instating the commuter tax to fund the MTA are already started up again.
  3. Can't wait to see the New York AG endorsement, and the reason to endorse Letitia James. You know, it's great to have the Governor's BFF to be your AG.

What a joke Newsday has become.

KG is busy getting ready to run for President in 2020 I’m sure. She doesn’t need to focus on LI or NY as she’d automatically get the electoral votes.

This is the same island that elected and re-elected Kathleen Rice...what ever did she accomplish?

What a joke Newsday has become.
The Newsday bias has been going on for a long time. I saw this when I was a kid.

I used to live in Queens and would come out to Suffolk a lot to visit the bulk of my family (both sides). Sometimes I would compare the Queens edition of Newsday with the Long Island edition. I noticed editorials in the Long Island edition endorsing Democrats on Long Island to help Long Island become more multiparty (Long Island was Republican dominated).

But in turn, did Newsday in Queens endorse Republicans to help the City (the City is Democratic dominated) become more multiparty? None that I remember. And if anything, the City could have used some help with party diversity far more then the Island needed. But from Newsday - silence, unless it was to help Democrats.

So to this day, I pretty much ignore Newsday endorsements.

Having said that, at least Newsday is a readable newspaper. The New York Daily News, while never a very good newspaper, has completely declined into a pathetic ultra-biased bad joke.

Always thought it odd that a newspaper could literally endorse a candidate and a few folks would actually believe they would then cover the candidate objectively.

I am not sure Newsday realizes their endorsements actually hurt candidates... given the reputation of Newsday.

He played the game to get in. It's not a surprise. You know this before running for president.
