Hello All,

I am looking into buying a house in Long Island, town of hempstead area. Is there a way to check if the house I am looking has any open violations or open permit before I submit an offer? I know in NYC there is a website that allows us to check. Try to avoid any troubles into house that is not up to code or building violation.

Thanks

Anyway, contact TOH building department.

Just call and tell them you are looking to buy a house and you want to make sure all is in order.
You could still make an offer on the home with a contingency. If there is an issue the buyer will need to resolve before closing. Happens all the time. Don’t risk losing a home you really like. Get locked in and get the ball rolling. With a contingency you can walk away if need be.

Call the town and ask the building department if there's any open permits and you don't want to offer until you know. This would all turn up on a title search as well.
