We recently moved from the city to West Hills and now have a triple stack cesspool. Having always had sewer, we are unsure of how to best maintain our cesspool so we do not have any issues. Should we call to have it serviced even if there's not a problem? (like for regular maintenance?). Anything else we should be wary of doing when we have a cesspool? We know not to flush anything besides toilet paper, but anything else we should know? Thank you in advance!

Do NOT flush anything down the toilet other than toilet paper. Any sanitary napkins, wipes, or "Disposable menstrual products” should NOT be flushed down the toilet.

If you have no history or records of maintenance, I would recommend getting it pumped. Just so you know where you stand. Dead average is 5 years between pumping.
Depends on use though. Showers, toilets, laundry, sinks, it all goes to the cesspool.
Don’t flush anything down the toilet aside from TP.
I cannot stress that enough. TP ONLY.
And also try to limit any kitchen gunk going down the drain. Keep a strainer in there.
No harsh chemicals either, they kill the good bacteria that helps break down the waste in the tank.

Many homes have a dry well for laundry, so that this water usage (also referred to as "grey water") won't go into the cesspool.

If possible, ask the previous owner, or reach out to the listing agent to find out one exists.
