I ask this because on Main Street in Islip Bank of America is now an OBGYN office and the one on Hempstead Avenue in Malverne by my mom's house is now vacant and being gutted.

No, I see lots of them in my travels across the Island.

Maybe they just closed the ones that didn't perform as expected?

Lol if BoA closed it would be massive news, no those are just local locations they either closed or moved.

Some banks are going to start to close down branches and use the excuse that people would rather prefer to do online banking and there isn't as much need for so many branches to be open. That's when it's time to move your assets to another bank. Screw them. If I need to travel a good distance to access my money then you are losing my business.

Unfortunately the rest are not much better. Chase, Capital One and especially Wells Fargo will all find ways to $crew you or do what is their best interest. I recently opened up an Capital One 360 account that offered 2.0% IR and a $200 bonus if you deposited $10K within 90 days. It's already been 90 days and I met the requirements but they have yet to give me the $200 bonus. I called them the other day and spoke to a few agent and a manager who were absolutely useless. I'm going to start looking for another bank now.

Banked with Chase for over 20 years. LOVE them. Unfortunately they aren't here in NC (yet) so I opened a BoA account...I closed it 3 months later...they are the biggest bunch of incompetent nitwits, I could spend a full day writing all the buffoonery I dealt with in 3 months.
