It's dead in the water, never going to happen.

I spoke to a few people over the weekend. One got $4200 less in their return VS. last year. The other had to pay $3,000 VS just about breaking even over last year. I’m sure there are a lot of variables to consider.
However, With SALT (10k max deduction) is it really the Federal Governments problem that Long Island Taxes are so high?

I will play devil's advocate here. Why should feds subsidize our oversized property taxes? We run double the average property tax nationwide, yet don't get twice the service quality.
Our school rankings and lower crime rate are directly proportional to the socioeconomic makeup of the area involved not due overpaid civil servants.
Now I see Cuomo was blaming the 2.8 billion drop in tax revenue on SALT, and typically continues to ignore that fact that people are voting with their feet and getting out of this overpriced and fiscally irresponsible state.

Exactly what I previously posted. Time to start (most do already) voting with your pockets.

I like the SALT deduction and hope it is restored.I don't know why so many of you feel that us Long Islanders need to be taught a lesson for being a high tax area. Yes, local taxes are too high, BUT I don't need the federal government to TEACH me a lesson - I need tax relief. Making us pay more in taxes is not going to force local/state government to lower their taxes... so RETURN the deduction.

As for all you people who hate it here in NY... MOVE ALREADY!

No one wants to pay more taxes. Especially property taxes. But again, (“The lesson “) how & why is it the Federal Governments responsibility to give tax breaks based off outrageous Nassau/Suffolk property taxes?

The real question is why are people defending a terrible tax deal that doesn’t help? Stupid.

I’m not defending it at all. I’m pointing out the obvious. The tax plan overall is GREAT for the country. NOT great for Nassau & Suffolk along with other high taxed states/counties.
