Visit Suffolk. Not much for tourists in Nassau, too suburban. Visit the Hamptons, Fire Island, Montauk Point, the North Folk, Bellport, Patchogue, Sayville, and Port Jefferson. Swim in the ocean beaches, kayak in the Moriches Bay, canoe down the Carmen's River, get pies at Briermere Farms, grab some bottles of wine at the wineries, take a fishing charter out the Moriches inlet, check out a show at the Bellport theatre, visit the William Floyd Estate and the museum at Stony Brook Village. Stroll the sidewalks of Southampton and Easthampton. Plenty to do out east.
