Hi All:

Has anyone ever done this successfully? This is my second year at it, with the first year being rejected. Any advice on how to get a successful appeal?

The village doesn’t negotiate. The sheisters are only involved with the county government.

Yeah I made the mistake of buying in an incorporated village. Every year I give them $4500 for the privilege of living here. And there is nothing I can do about it other than move.

The tax difference between living in an incorporated village and outside of it likely is relatively small. The Services that you pay taxes n in an Incorporated Village are provided by either the county or the town if you are outside of the village so you simply pay someone else for the same service.

Are you really paying $4500 in Village taxes?? I know RVC has their own Police Dept but I bet you still pay something to Nassau for Police HQ. Ok you get sanitation but I bet you still pay Nassau something for disposal so there is some duplication's there. Add School taxes and I could never Retire there Lol

So what do you get for your $4500, your own building and Hwy Dept. Local Code enforcement, not sure if that is a plus or not. What else???

I also live in a village but pay nowhere near that in village taxes, it does cost more to live in a village but is Local say over what goes on in your town worth $4500??

Are you familiar with RVC? Poster may live in a multi-million dollar home. May be under taxed.

Yea i don't live in a multi-million dollar home....at this point, no one in nassau county is under taxed....village or not, you are being robbed. The assessment is a way home owners keep the county honest when it comes to taxes. I'm about paying my share, but when it makes fiscal sense.
