On the one hand it would split off the large Bernie Sanders wing, but on the other hand it might possibly keep the Dems viable in the next election.

At this point it looks like Trump again in 2020 - can't see any moderates buying what the lefties are selling nowadays.
Ha. Amerikkka loves us some "socialism!" Most don't know it, but if they picked their preferred economic policy from a questionnaire...64% of Americans would pick Democratic Socialism!! Oooooooo, feel the Bern. lol. Too bad we don't live in a democracy.

Well at least you are now laying off the peculiar (and creepy) citi-data poster spouse fantasies.

That's progress.

Fact remains, Kodak is the poster child for mishandling disruptive technology...that THEY created! At a crossroad of "go with the new digital" or "protect the paper, film and chemical" business they doubled down on film...the rest is history and a negative case study used in every business school in the country!

Not one mention of Clinton or NAFTA. And I voted for Perot. "Hear that sucking sound...that's jobs going to Mexico!" He was spot on.

As for Amazon...every day in Newsday (twice today) you'll read of companies reneging on their IDA obligation, laying off workers, moving facilities to NJ and PA. They take the money, don;t deliver and we pay lawyers to try to claw it back, unsuccessfully. That process on steroids is what I think of Amazon's proposed numbers. I was still for it, but the hyperbole of GUARANTEED benefits to NY is a joke. Amazon didn't get rich by writing a lot of checks. They game the tax code and prey on desperate municipalities looking for an industrial jackpot. Takes a rube to think that is some kind of magic windfall.
Kodak followed the Tom Carvel school of business growth. Story has it that Ray Kroc had been selling his milkshake mixers to Carvel and wanted them to team up together but the father of Fudgie the Whale thought that hamburgers and thick shakes would not make a good combination and turned Kroc down. Years later Carvel opened a small chain of Hubie's Hamburgers but they failed because they could not compete with the already established McDonalds.

Nobody blamed his bad decision making on Cold War era politics; that's a phenomenon for today's tunnel-visioned partisans.

Get over your silly deflection. You know exactly what I'm talking about. You, wife, whatever. A simple search for teacher salaries will bring up your posts and the public can decide for themselves on your hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, you'll harp on some perceived slight, but still not a peep to refute any of the substantive points made. Typical.

Socialism?! I find that hysterical and hypocritical coming form the A #1 teacher-cop ponzi/pension/salary apologist on CDLI. PURE socialism. Good when it lines your pocket, aye, but health bennies for EVERYONE?, then your sphincter slams shut.

We ARE already rampantly socialist and capitalism does not mutually exclude socialist policies. No one is discussing the overthrow of capitalism, but it's easy to scare the soft headed with that foolishness, while they fleece your pockets to subsidize a military jobs program or use your money to offer a 10 year tax abatement to a profitable corporation, even as they layoff hundreds of workers and move operations somewhere cheaper, where they can fulfill their dream of taking America from a 1st world to a 3rd world manufacturer.

Go back to your wife's school and read up on command economies, communism and totalitarianism before spewing that same right wing "socialist" fear monger line.

Or else, rage against your wife's govt trough benefits, the military, interstate highways and 21% corporate taxes. All S.O.C.I.A.L.I.S.M. Even better the "boomers" decrying socialism, who all got an education and house from the GI Bill aka SOCIALISM!!

So much kool aid out there people voting against their own interests with grape-purple teeth, and acting magnanimous about screwing themselves over. Dumb.

Any chance you are thinking of this guy?

Teacher and police salaries are good for LI's wealth distribution

You're not getting any less creepy - a ticket to the ignore list.

You keep going on and on with the wrong use case that it's almost like a nervous tic.

What Kodak executives, the phony CNN ones? I know history and I know that the Clinton administration helped destroy them by supporting a foreign competitor. Yes, Kodak had a monopoly in the US but Fuji had one in Japan, so why were they preferred? It makes no sense, somewhat like what's happened with Amazon and LI.

Just a little history, Kodak, was generous to the local community and Rochester, NY. It helped fund the local University(UofR), It helped support a local hospital(Strong), they provided scholarships, supported little league teams, etc. Kodak was a pillar of the local community and it's possible that Amazon could have provided some of the same support to LI. But foolish demorats like AOC, Meeks and others have squandered that possibility. If you look at upstate New York today you see the results of NAFTA and other demorat policies. It's not a coincidence that it is very depressed in upstate New York now. I suspect LI is headed in the same direction, with demorat idiots like AOC and Gregory Meeks, leading the charge to ruin.

You're chasing your tail, Pappy. Politics had nothing more to do with sinking Kodak than politics had to do with killing the buggy whip industry. Smart companies that had been making buggy whips began making belts for the engines running horseless carriages; ineptly run companies kept making buggy whips until their warehouses were full and their coffers were empty.

Reached the end of my patience.

AR15's are a right, and medical care a privilege.

Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security is an "ENTITLEMENT", Naaa we all pay into that and earned it.
But it isn't socialism to pay $12B to farmers due to Individual no. 1's tariffs?
One out of every four dollars in farm subsidies went to someone who received $250,000 or more that year.

Not unlike the tax cut more wealth to the wealthy, but that's not socialism.
