I’m up to my neck with offers. What people are finding out is that while you can find plenty of code monkeys, they need experienced people to herd those code camp wonders.

One place that’s always hiring is Capital One, check out their site or go on LinkedIn and contact one of their recruiters. (FWIW I don’t work for CapOne)

Thanks for the pointers! Yeah, I hear you loud and clear! The employers who have got some sense will prefer experienced folks..that's why established companies are what I'm looking for and not some whiz bang dot com where 20 somethings are running things with no kids and mortgage!!

One factor that may make it slightly tricky is that I'm looking for remote positions..not going to endure terrible commutes unless I really have to. Man it's been so long that I looked for a job and paid any attention to LinkedIn! Time to relearn and see what's going on out there!

Thanks for your concern! yes, looking to possible move and for a new job at the time .. let see how it goes Part of the reason for remote is to have something that brings in some money while we figure out where to move. It's looking that it'll be move out of NY..time will tell.

This is always the case .. in with the new and out with the old..but depending on where you look, I think one can still find places that don't just prefer younger workers..but you never know.

Brooklyn and Queens have plenty of IT jobs. On the Island? I know Cisco has a presence in Hauppauge.

Altice (formerly Cablevision) is a good place to look. Always hiring, multiple facilities.

Thank you for the pointers! Will take a look. Island seems to be little dry on the IT jobs!

Use headhunters. It's tough finding those hiring on your own and even the companies know this so they use them too.

Why do you believe this? Because it can be done cheaper overseas?
