It was a spot of land west of Tampa called Indian Rocks Beach. Just south of Clearwater, a bit north of St. Pete's, 20 or so min west of Tampa.
Just didn't like it. The people were interesting...some bizarre mix of Southerner, Northerner, Floridian, something. The place was also a bizarre mix of shantys and unsellable luxury condos. It was 85 with some tropical sun, it was a killer for a whitey like me. Everything seemed dirty and somewhat unkept...the place we stayed (which absolutely killed me), the places we ate.
I don't know. Some parts were nice...like being on the gulf and, basically, the bay at the same time (like Fire Island), but overall I'm just not a fan. I really don't care much for FL in general and this trip was one gleaming example of that. I'm sure there are a number of nice areas, but it's just not for me.

Ditto. I can't stand the mix of people, and all the transients in FLA. And the sun would kill me too, just too much, all year round. I like a change of seasons.
