I got my property tax relief credit check today!

1) Who should I call and thank for this very generous and benevolent act of giving me back my money?

2) How much did it cost in labor & to print & mail these checks?

3) Since this check happened to come right before election day should I reward all the incumbents when I go vote?

4) Did this money come from other tax dollars that wasn't needed or did the blood-suckers reach into their own pockets?

1.) No one

2.) Who cares

3.) They've always come around this time of year even in non election years

4.) I think you should set an example and send your check back in protest.

Ok so how about you get nothing then? I swear some people will whine and complain about anything

I got one last year: It was a whopping $176, LOL

What I don't get is that in articles like this, that tell you what percentage your check is going to be, the numbers are way off. For example, it says that seniors are supposed to get a rebate check that's 34% of whatever their Enhanced STAR amount is, "regardless of income." Well, my December 2018 tax bill showed my Enhanced STAR as $1502 but my rebate check was barely 12% of that. And I've been a senior for a bunch of years, lol

https://www.democratandchronicle.com...rs/2208414001/

So I have no idea where/how they come up with these numbers.

ETA: Okay, I did some more Googling and figured it out: The rebate percentages run a year behind the calendar. This NYS page gives the actual percentages:

https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/property/ptrf-addinfo.htm

So the 12% that I received last October (2018) was based on the Enhanced STAR that was on my December 2017 property tax bill.

And the one I should expect to get at some point this fall should be 26% of the Enhanced STAR that is on my December 2018 tax bill (i.e., a bit more than $400). And the check I will get next October/November (2020) will be 34% of whatever the Enhanced STAR will be on the tax bill I receive next month.

Good timing, I just had to pay $390 for two pair of updated prescription lenses (which Medicare doesn't cover.) Easy come, easy go LOL

^<<<<<<This!! lol Although I must admit, I feel like when I get it, it is just a reach around and I'm actually still getting the shaft somehow. I know if they're giving me something, they're keeping more! But I just shut up and cash it before it bounces! lol

I got a check a few days ago. I am thankful for getting something since I'm a new homeowner who recently closed and was not expecting anything.

In 2017, I paid taxes for the year, including a final school tax whopper the month I left. NY sent me no rebate, and not even a thank you. Zero, nada, bupkes. All rebates must have gone to the new owner.
