They claim it's the size of the sign, not the content. Who knows.
Maybe he should have a friends shop hang a Hillary sign the same size and see what happens.
There are commercial signage laws everywhere that address this. Put a small sign in the window, like when America was great. We have too many people on both sides who first learned kindergarten civics and politics in 2016 from Facebook but now fancy themselves professional pundits and analysts. Read some things, pick a candidate and go back to work. Let the town code gestapo handle the signage matters. I've driven around and seen the moron signage wars, trying to outdo the next idiot with billboards and banners. Puh-leeze. Can't wait til people are bored and disinterested in politics again. They really don't know what is actually happening anyway, or who really has their best interests at heart. It's just tribal/team silliness.
"It's not necessarily what the sign says," Village Mayor Margot Garant told News 12. "It's basically the size and substance of the banner itself. It's an illegal sign."
“Not necessarily” says a lot.
Size or not he’s being persecuted. But he’s basically alienating half or more of his potential clientele.

Thats code, "He doesnt like what it says so we are finding a reason to have him take it down, but if I'd liked the message, I'd ignore it"
The mayor probably doesn’t want real estate prices to take a dive.
That mayor does not look like a Trump supporter.
