I live in house that was build in the 1950s in long island. I recently had a drain pipe cracked in the basement that cost me so much to fix. They had to dig outside my house and replace the pipe. The lawn is a mess and sprinkler is damaged. I figured it is the best time now to drain the cesspool as well.

Does anyone know any good Cesspool service that is not expensive and good service.

Thank you in advance for your help

There are many cesspool companies; to pump a cesspool, there is a flat fee plus a per-gallon fee for how many gallons they actually remove.

In northwestern Suffolk, AAA Cesspool is a good company. However, we never had to have ours pumped, so I have no idea how much they charge for that. We have had them do other things but not that.

What makes you think that you need the cesspool pumped, by the way? Are you having backup issues? How long have you owned the house, and did you have the cesspool inspected before you bought it? (In other words, when was the last time you knew the condition of the cesspool.)

I brought the house 2011. There is no backup issues. I just the cesspool inspected when they connected the drain pipe to the cesspool. The plumber said half full

I figured since the ground is already messed up and so is the sprinkler system. Maybe it time to drain it

Probably true, then you won't need to concern yourself about it for a while. Just curious, did they tell you whether it is a block pool or a precast one? Because if it's a block pool you are better off replacing it entirely, because it's on borrowed time anyhow.

If the house was built in the 1950s, you have a 50/50 chance of the original block pool having been replaced before precast pools became required (which I think, but am not 100% sure, happened in the 1970s, at least in Suffolk; don't know about Nassau.) They were still installing block pools during the 1960s, for sure.

I grew up in a house that was built in 1950 and of course had a block pool. It collapsed in the late 1960s and was replaced with another block pool. This is why IMHO there's a 50/50 chance of a 1950s house still having a block cesspool.
