There's a doctor at UNC who developed a rapid test in the beginning of Feb....she re-counted on the news a couple weeks ago dealing with the FDA red tape for a solid month before getting it approved. This is for a damn test, not treatment. The problem with our gov't is no one is used to moving fast. Not even in an emergency.

That’s why all of the testing options now say “in compliance with FDA emergency approval”.
One of the unintended consequences that might come of this is that the speed with which they approved these drugs was amazing. It proves that it is possible to approve a drug for usage a lot quicker that had been done in the past. Yes I know many are new drugs, but the government will be loath to dawdle since it has proven that it is possible to do - when loves are at stake.
