Is this a serious question? What does spread mean? We're not talking about just person A giving it to person B and the virus is satiated enough not to move on...

I would imagine most of the people calling for opening LI up are white. People who haven't been distancing from the start wont be complaining about that.

Many of those workers work in other nursing facilities. Spreading the virus from one facility to another. Not having adequate PE equipment doesn’t help either.

Also, nurses who test positive are allowed to work! Yes! Allowed to work providing they don’t show any symptoms. This article is specifically for NYC, however applies to a LI hospital a family member works at. https://www.nydailynews.com/coronavi...6xu-story.html

If you are not living in the NYC-area and not in a nursing home you might view the actions of your state (and even certain areas within certain states) as hysterical and very damaging overreactions.

At some point one imagines a fine-tuning of restrictions and stay-home orders even in NY...obviously Nursing Home restrictions will stay or even get tighter for quite a while. And that would be before some sort of a vaccine/cure emerges.

In fact CDC budget has actually increased yearly under trump:

“President Donald Trump is taking heat from Democrats for proposing budget cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention amid growing fears about a new coronavirus outbreak in the United States, but administration officials say CDC funding has steadily increased since Trump took office.

An ABC News analysis of the president’s budget proposals compared to the congressionally approved spending plans ultimately enacted show both claims are true.”

What he DID cut were advisory positions in the national security council on pandemics ( along with a bunch of other NSC positions) These were advisory positions not agencies. He did it as part of reducing the size of the National security council which became a bloated mess under Obama going from a few dozen to a hundred.

If he didn't do anything wrong, then why is he now looking for someone to blame?

What does that have to do with ANYTHING I posted above? The fact of the matter is the CDC budget has grown under the trump admin not been cut. I don’t see what randomly bringing up Azar has anything to do with it.

Who is suggesting we 'hide from it'?

One of the most basic axioms re: war is to 'know your enemy' ~ if the friggin virus is the enemy here, it makes no sense to underestimate. It makes much sense to know & to understand the enemy.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The same people who say not to open up are usually the same people who will go to Costco the super market and target/Walmart. If you can do that you can open up other businesses.

Landscapers can drive to my house in a truck together and cut grass. But the same people can’t plant new flowers. Common sense needs to prevail here.

Exactly. They’re also comfortable saying close for the next 10 years because they gain more collecting u employment unemployment (which would be extended if stay at home continues) and collecting stimulus checks. It’s usually low income people (for LI standards) who pray and hope stay at home

Unfortunately many people aren’t gonna have jobs to return to. Do any of you folks know business owners that voluntarily shut down due to fear or math? Everyone want the shutdown to end but, most also want to be able to visit there loved ones or not bring home a disease that will effect someone they live with. Many don’t want to get sick either even if they don’t die. Some people need find some empathy.
