I have a shed that I am considering converting into a changing room for the pool. It would be great to be able to put a toilet in there so it would keep people from going through the house wet. I would enclose it enough to be private.
I'm wondering if there are any restrictions on outdoor bathrooms from the town. I live in Brookhaven.
I would build it in such a way as to shut it down and drain the lines in the winter. I would prob need to add a small cesspool as my main cesspool is too far away.
You wouldn’t be able to add a cesspool. Would probably have to be one of those newfangled expensive septic systems they’re mandating now. That’s just one thing - between permitting and the likely tax increases I think it will be more hassle than it’s worth.
Probably not worth the effort. I have no idea what town code is on something like this, but you are essentially turning a shed into living space. So, I'm sure everything would have to be up to code and you would need plumbing permits (electrical too if your adding light.) As for the second cesspool I highly doubt that the DEC would approve that.
What about a composting toilet and maybe a water holding tank/pump for a sink?
Refill the water tank with a hose every so often, run the sink drain right out the back of the shed into a small dry well.
At the end of the season drain the water tank and it's winterized.
Bah...boys pee behind the shed. Girls go inside house.
Actually, everyone just pees in the pool. No need for a toilet.lol.
