Are those ticket selling clerks still getting paid? Ticket office been closed for weeks now. I'm pretty sure Trump will be in favor of bailing out the MTA or like his real estate empire there will fail too

You haven’t been keeping up have you?

Trump doesn’t want to bail out anything that is ran like crap. Look at NY state, he doesn’t want to give them a dime. Everyone knows why it’s always millions and millions in the red. People are not stupid.

Amtrak already does it out of Penn with no issues. The Acela for instance now has assigned seating and have to pre-book. Actually makes boarding easier, you know where you are sitting and trains cant get overcrowded. All LIRR has to do is assign seat numbers on AP and you book a particular train. You cant go to platform without a pre booked ticket.

Not enough LIRR employees or incoming revenue to support more LIRR employees to pull this off.

LIRR employees can barely collect tickets pre-corona days.....From personal experience, its about 90% of the time they are able to collect.

There is a huge scale difference between daily ridership on Amtrak and the LIRR. Rube Goldberg in the making.

Absolutely! I bet Lirr has triple or quadruple the riders.

More like ten times the riders, comparing the Northeast Corridor Line from say NYC to PHL and the LIRR.
