Primaries are quite rare among Republicans, but there is one on the South Shore for the seat currently held by Pete King, NY 2, which runs from Oakland Avenue (Wantagh-Seaford) to Bayport (just east of Nicholls Road, maybe the Islip-Brookhaven border).
Its Andrew Garbarino vs. Mike DiPetri.
The large, colorful mailings received so far seem to come from the Islip Republicans, as Garbarino is their candidate. I cannot find any criticism or praise of Donald Trump in the statements I have looked at. DiPetri (of South Farmingdale or Massapequa Park, he doesn't specify) apparently wants citizens to own more guns, something contrary to Pete King's position that the multiplication of civilian weapons endangers police.
