Japan's population is 30% of the US population and its population density is much higher than that of the US. It only has 20,000 cases while US has 3 million. Japan did not really do a big shutdown or anything like that.
The big difference is Japanese wear masks. If everybody in the US wears masks for 2 month, cases will drop tremendously, everyone will feel safer. Why can't people do it? It is amazing US has spent 6 trillion dollars so far and results are still terrible. Masks? they do not cost much!
We will pay for the 6 trillion dollars with our taxes for a long time.
Exactly. Malls on LI will open this weekend and the entitled, don't tread on my face crowd will make sure we get a big enough spike to get another lockdown. I love the mask. Haven't gotten so much as a sniffle in months. Imagine the decrease in flu #'s. Plus people can't tell when I'm making faces at them.
The long term affects are possibly going to be worse than the deaths. I just read an article about autopsies that were done on people who have died, they've finally gotten enough data together. The real problem is everyone thinks this is like the flu, it comes, it goes, you move on with your life, but every autopsy has shown some degree of vascular damage. Everyone thinks this is a respiratory illness, it's not. Get it and recover - great - we have no idea what the long term affects are going to be.

I heard a news story this morning that said one thing that is becoming apparent is that folks that were "cured" are returning to the Dr's and insisting upon an actual visit because they are feeling like they are having difficulty breathing are fatigued and are coughing. Apparently all part of the collateral damage.
No one is banned from entering New York from any other state. Your information sources are wrong. As usual.[/QUOTE
Most who comprehend understand it is a ban from freely entering and exiting without a 2 week quarantine, which for many, in effect render it a ban. I must add, because I would not want to be mistaken by those who are so literal, that with no real means of enforcement, it is rather empty.
Do you frequently say that which you don't mean in personal conversation also?

I, for one, am tired of the anecdotal stories force fed by the media the last 4 months. If it's not some mysterious childhood ailment one week, it's long term effects the next week.

Actually nobody knows why Japan wasn’t hit hard, but other considerations are they practiced a form of social distancing or they didn’t test enough.
I went to the mall today here - been open for a while. Total ghost town. GHOST TOWN. Most stores not opening till 11 or 12 and some food court places not open at all. I’ll be curious to see how LIers do.
