Walmart allows THOUSANDS of people in their stores. What’s the problem?
The problem is that if kids are going to be in school all day, they will have to eat, obviously without masks and it won't be easy to practice social distancing in the lunchrooms or classrooms. Also little kids are going to need help with the masks, and as usual, putting on their coats, tying shoes, putting in barrettes that slide off, and other things that make it impossible for social distancing. If schools were set up the way they used to be with rows of desks and a teacher in front of the room, it would be easier. But schools don't work that way any more.

at one time? I don't think so. And people are moving about as they shop. They aren't sitting around in one place. And little kids - forget it. Petri dishes plus all the hugging and touching they do.

I love the guaranteed pay raises every year... so much so that there can only be a deferment for it during "contract negotiations". Don't get our hopes up with this thread title. We may actually feel remorse for a second. F them and their greed.
That's a little harsh considering we don't know the inner workings of the district or what went on during negotiations... This article is just the tip of the iceberg.

So where do we start? Hire more teachers, open more school facilities, sanitize every inch every day in our schools, extend school year for social distancing. All sounds great!

Plenty of space to spread out. Use parking lot. Set up mobil classroooms. Use libraries. Our town have a lot of land and resources. duh.
I’m hearing rumblings that more schools to follow Bay Shore and are making cuts even tho budgets passed.
And how about Cuomo’s plan to possibly have a split schedule with maybe 2-3 days in class and the other 2-3 days online? Does this guy even think about families where both parents work? What a disaster that would be!
