Show us infection numbers and then we can compare it again later when school starts up. That would be helpful here. Because infection numbers are what's going to be driving decisions, plain and simple.

How about busses? Can’t have a full bus. How’s everyone getting to and from school? Is everyone’s employer fine with everyone coming in at 10 am and flying out at 2 pm to pick up the kids? Sorry. I don’t see how this will work.

Our grands are being home schooled this year. It's too long a day to expect 5 year olds to sit at a desk for 6.5 hrs. Social distancing and in masks.
No leaving class for lunch or recess. Lunch at the desk. No specials out of the classroom.(art,library,music,gym). Icing on the cake was the district sending notice that they discuss AIDS in kindergarten. NOPE.

What qualifies a parent to home school? While teachers need master’s degrees?

Let's just hope that there are no breakouts. I'm praying for everyone (Trump boot lickers) and (nevertrumpers) children to stay healthy and well. If it works out we can all go back to normal. Bottom line. Do NOT send your kid to school sick. Do not go to work sick. Period. Let's beat this thing.

My daughter had and will be having live taught classes. I will not be teaching her, the teachers will be teaching her.

Depends on the district the plans are all over the map. Many offer a live home schooling option. Mine though which is planning on opening full time (except HS) isn’t offering a live instruction “opt out”. If parents choose to keep their kids at home they can of course but they get handed a home school curriculum and are told to have at it.

LI kids congregating, going to camps, and enrolled in daycare on LI doubtlessly were infected and infected others with Covid this summer (as Fauci has pointedly noted, this will continue with a Covid vaccine). Opening schools won't stop that sort of thing. (Note it happens with seasonal flu at school...notwithstanding a vaccine)

I guess one could categorize one kid passing the disease (or flu or strep throat) to another this summer or during the school year as an outbreak.

More importantly, kids aren't dying of Covid-19 on LI right now. Nobody on LI is. (See the attached LI chart)

That's GREAT news that nobody is dying . I lost 2 people to Covid. Almost lost my childhood friend and best man to covid. I have seen 50% of the student body home with the flu. It spreads with kids like wildfire. People send their kids to work sick. That culture has to change. Employers have to increase sick days. Personal days. Work from home days. Parents can't continue to give their kid fever reducers and send them in.
