Hi.
We are tying to buy a house in Nassau county. The current owners are unsure if the house is septic or sewer. They are very adamant that they believe it to be sewer. However, the inspector said he thinks it might be septic. Both us and the current owner are tying to figure it out. We know this will come out in the title search but that comes after signing the contract. I see that they pay sewer taxes. Would this indicate that they’re hooked up to the sewer? Anyone with a septic tank that still pays these taxes in Nassau county? They’re trying to check their water bill as well but I am unsure if that would indicate this as well. we are fine with septic but would want it inspected since it has been checked for the last 15 years or so. Thank you!
Check with the town. They may know since the roads are town ownership (unless on a main road, and then it may be either) and if sewers were put in they may have needed a permit.
Septic or Sewer, either way you may want to get the line scoped with a camera.
It couldn't hurt to check on the condition of your connection, it might even save you some hassle in the near future.
