What is the mentality behind doing this just before vaccines take a stronger hold in the next couple of months? We've waited this long, and they're just going to spike the numbers one more time? Is this just what humans do now? Is this why we're exploring other planets to live on instead?
Owning the libs. Texas Gov Abbot says Biden is releasing COVID infected illegals into Texas communities. Yet he doesn’t reinstate the mask mandate. Meanwhile Alabama bucked the trend of owning the Libs at the expense of its citizenry.
Cuomo knows his sexual harassment scandal obscures his far more serious scandal (the avoidable Covid deaths of NY nursing home residents and his frantic attempts to cover this up).
Well, very bad news regarding his cover-up attempts for Cuomo from the lengthy (and devastating) New York Times front page article yesterday:
The central role played by the governor’s top aides reflected the lengths to which Mr. Cuomo has gone in the middle of a deadly pandemic to control data, brush aside public health expertise and bolster his position as a national leader in the fight against the coronavirus.
Cuomo sucks. Always has, always will.
He doesn’t care about you, and he doesn’t care about me.
He cares about Andrew. That’s it.
He's a libertarian ideologue?
Quote:
In ethics, Rand argued for rational and ethical egoism (rational self-interest), as the guiding moral principle. She said the individual should "exist for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself".[113] She referred to egoism as "the virtue of selfishness" in her book of that title.
... Rand's political philosophy emphasized individual rights (including property rights),[117] and she considered laissez-faire capitalism the only moral social system because in her view it was the only system based on the protection of those rights.
The Virtue of Selfishness: A New Concept of Egoism
God I hate defending Randy Andy, but... nice hyperbole. What was your policy on transferring elderly hospital patients in the early days of this? Point to a link. I'm dying to know what policies you espoused at the time because every other politico in the state was on board with Cuomo. The nursing homes should not have accepted many of the patients, some thought they had to, but that was never ordered. They were supposed to take who they could "treat" (that's the law on the books), but who knew about treating COVID transmissions in March, 2020? You?!?! Sure.
Funny, no comments on the massive rise in nursing home deaths across the country? Cuomo killed grandma in Kansas, too?! Suddenly infection control is new to nursing homes, not a problem they've dealt with for decades?!
That he tried to cover it up is the REAL issue and point to be discussed, not "duh, he intentionally killed grandma." Policymaking at the time was nearly impossible with 1000 people a day being admitted to hospitals and a scramble for PPE, ventilators, travel restrictions, staff, battling the Fed "hoax" response, public union fears, yadda yadda. But he LIED about inadvertently getting grandma killed. That is the real issue and will be his downfall.
When things are so partisan, it is critical to get info from BOTH sides. And in this case, both sides are against him so LICD forum should be having a happy hour!
Re: underlined: agree.
Many people who routinely required ICF care were transported to Hospitals when their needs could not be met, & where they eventually died. This was not intentional. Some folks went back & forth. Back then, as you noted, PPE, & ventilators, etc. were in short supply. This was also not intentional.
It was a global pandemic, there were many interrelated factors that made it worse, as you also noted in your post above. As people, & as individuals, sometimes there is little one can do or say to make a bad situation better. Although, it's a sadness however true, that one's actions or words can make a bad situation worse.
Sometimes it's akin to 'damage control' i.e. just don't make it worse.
Now that we know more, (although there are still numerous uncertainties regarding), it would make sense to be 'one-minded' in our desire to get through this, & be more prepared for the next time
LAS VEGAS -- The UFC has not done a show in the United States outside its home of Las Vegas in nearly a year. That could be changing soon, according to UFC president Dana White.
White said Thursday at the UFC 259 prefight news conference that as soon as he heard Texas Gov. Greg Abbott had lifted COVID-19 restrictions -- including a capacity limit for facilities -- he started making calls. White said the city of Dallas turned the UFC down, but the promotion is now working on Houston.
The promoter, who has touted the fact that the UFC was the first major sport back, in May, after the start of the coronavirus pandemic, said he wants to run a UFC event in Texas -- with a full crowd -- as soon as he can.
"I want to go to Texas ASAP," White said. "I'll go in the next two, three weeks. I'm ready to roll. We'll be first. We'll open this thing up, we'll sell it out and be on our way."
/\ The ‘experts’ have been remarkably silent concerning the closure of so many k-12 schools and outdoor spectator banning (neither of which is supported by either the science or the data) and the peculiar enforced wearing of masks by the fully vaccinated (also unsupported by the science) so I wouldn’t assume their opinions would strike most folks as credible.
