Even when Guramrit Hanspal is finally removed from his squat he's likely saved bank! He'll go back to his country and live like a king. That or move someplace else cheap and still live rest of his life on easy street with all money he's saved by not paying for housing in over twenty years.
No bank will ever touch him again with a mortgage, neither would any landlord with his head on right. But who .Moderator cut: language removed knows with way this country is going nowadays.

If really this easy, how come every lawyer on LI is not advising their clients to do the same?
As an example, my employer in NYC has had tenants avoid paying their rent or their portion out of pocket for 3-4 years. They are advised by their lawyers how many times they can delay a final judgement, and then will some kind of welfare to pay what they owe, or a large enough sum to convince judge to allow more time. Process starts all over.
Its apparently all about the judge. Each judge can choose what lies they want to believe, and how much time they want to give defendant to get act together. Essentially the State/City court is super liberal, and will always take pity on the poor tenants.
Any experienced lawyer on LI ought to know how to work their own court system better than any layman. I am pretty sure this article, reporter is leaving out or missing a lot of important details.
