Its outside of ballentyne, the SC side. So yeah, I lied. It's not actually ballentyne, or north Carolina for that matter. But the house I looked at was $270k, 1 acre, and $1700 in taxes. 3 bed, 3bath.

If you're planning on living in SC and commuting to Charlotte for work, I suggest you read the Charlotte forum, from what they say its not an easy commute.

I had a friend go when MSC moved 150 LI jobs down there. Many of the expats landed in the same or nearby subdivisions. Lucky them. Not so lucky for the natives! lol

My subdivision was settled by a lot of IBMers who moved here in the mid-90s....luckily most of them were originally from upstate NY and had lived other places before moving here!

My company has an office in Charlotte and I seriously considered relocating there (but north, to the Lake Norman / Davidson area). I also heard about the frightening commute.

Good luck and let us know how it works out!

I'm retiring. Work part time doing handyman work, or even Lowes or home Depot to keep busy.

My main reasons to live down there, is no mortgage, low taxes, nicer people, and the warmer weather
